Louise Frances Smith is an artist living and working in Margate. Her practice spans sculpture, installation and works on paper.

Primarily working with clay, last year Louise received DYCP Arts Council England funding to research using local materials in her work, with a focus on clay and seaweed. This led to her first solo exhibition at Joseph Wales Gallery, Margate in June 2022- ‘HOLDFAST, experiments in seaweed, chalk & clay’. Louise has also shown work in exhibitions at the Mall Galleries, Dulwich Picture Gallery, New Forest Heritage Centre and Thrown Contemporary/Omved Gardens.
